Barbara I. Richey, 72, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on April 27, 1947 in Livingston, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles Henry Scott and Hope (Banks) Scott. Barbara graduated high school from Ahrens Trade School in Louisville, Kentucky and later attended to Gaylan College of Nursing earning her degree and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a former laborer at the old Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana, where she worked for 25 years and also was a L.P.N. at Brownsboro Hills Nursing Home in Lousiville, Kentucky for 7 years. Barbara was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Paris Crossing, Indiana, liked playing volleyball when she was younger and later enjoyed working in her flowers at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Frankie Hager and Wilma Gene Scott. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Larry D. Richey; three sons, Skip Swift (Donetta) and Tony Richey (Angela) all of Scottsburg, Indiana and Ben Mason (Amy) of Louisville, Kentucky; two daughters, Kim Swift-Higdon (Todd) of Hanover, Indiana and Amy Rickey-Weaver (Trevor) of Madison, Indiana; six brothers, Richard Scott of Louisville, Kentucky, Charles Henry Scott, III of Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas Nelson Scott (Marilyn) of Sellersburg, Indiana, Terry Douglas Scott (Mary) of Milton, Kentucky, Kenneth Wayne Scott of Washington, D.C. and Keith Scott of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Bobbie Ann Windhorst (Donald) of Louisville, Kentucky, Betsy Powell of Port Richey, Florida and Carol Frazier (Michael D.) of Campbellsburg, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a lifelong friend, Viola Tony of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at New Castle Cemetery in New Castle, Kentucky. Visitation: Visitation: 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
