Barbara Jean Pruett

Barbara Jean Pruett, 78, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1939 in Johnson County, Indiana, the daughter of Kenneth Price and Elsie Mae (Malone) Lykins. Barbara graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1957. She was married on Nov. 2, 1970 to Bill R. Pruett, who passed away on January 19, 2013. Barbara was a homemaker and mother first, but also had worked at the old Druther’s and Hardee’s Restaurants in Scottsburg, Indiana. In addition, she was the Johnson Elementary Librarian for many years. Barbara was Christian and attended several different churches with her family. She enjoyed sewing and painting, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Price; mother and stepfather, Elsie Mae and Harry Lykins and a stepbrother, Larry Lykins. Survivors include five sons, Steve Jones of Lexington, Indiana, Richard Jones, Darren and wife Alicia Jones and Michael Ray and wife Chrystal Pruett all of Deputy, Indiana and Mark Daniel Pruett of Owensboro, Kentucky; two daughters, Beth and husband Jimmy Shelton of Austin, Indiana and Susan Jones of Deputy, Indiana; a brother, William E. Price of Franklin, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Madison Jean Pruett, Natasha Cole, Derek Shelton, Casey and Rusty Jones, Matthew Shelton, Courtney and Clint Jones; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Alexis Cole, Elden Ford and Sadie Jones and a great granddaughter, Aaliyah Cole.

 

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Carroll and Rev. Rick Romero officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Saturday and after noon on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lexington Cemetery.
