Berta Lee Howard, 78, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on January 10, 1938 in Buckhorn, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth (Begley) Sandlin. Berta graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1956. She was a homemaker, a member of the Trinity House of Prayer in Austin, Indiana, she enjoyed sewing, horse back riding, music and spending time with her family. Berta was preceded in death by three sisters, Mavis Buckner, Inez Riley and Jessie Broughton and a great grandson, Jude Howard.Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Roy Howard; three sons, Roy Lee Howard of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ronald Howard and his wife Mikki of Austin, Indiana and Richard Howard and his wife Missy of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Diane Daniel and her husband Ronnie of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, John Sandlin of Scottsburg, Indiana; four sisters, Dora Hawkins, Betty Tidwell and Linda Austin all of Scottsburg, Indiana and Sally Gilbert of Carbon Hill, Alabama; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
