Bertha Mae Hart

Bertha Mae Hart, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana. She was born on June 7, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles Gray and Gracie (Caudill) Gray. Bertha was a homemaker and worked at various other jobs, retiring from Scott County School District II. She was a member of the New Life Assembly in Scottsburg, Indiana. Bertha was married on May 19, 1955 to James R. Hart, who preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2013. They were married 59 years and reunited when she died on his birthday. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Hart; two brothers, Bill and Ernest Gray and a sister, Doshie Hunter. Survivors include four sons, Robert A. Hart and his wife Sue of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ronald L. Hart and his wife Bonnie of Fishers, Indiana, Gary L. Hart and his wife Kathleen of Carmel, Indiana and Billy J. Hart and his wife Meg of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother and sister, Oscar Gray and Evalee Smith both of Lexington, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren, Shana Brown (Dave), Tiffany Warman (Steven), Rebekah Yong (Alberto), Chris Hart (Carrie), Jim Hart (Kerstin), Jered Hart (Shannon), Melanie Lupo (Andy), Mandy Beeson (Todd), Gary Hart, Jr. (Ashley), Olivia Hart, Hannah Johnson (Tyler), Wyatt and Henry Hart and eighteen great grandchildren. Memorials may be given in Bertha’s memory to New Life Assembly Church c/o Collins Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Pastor Mike Becht officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Saturday and noon to 2 pm Sunday. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
