Charlie Spicer, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at in his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on April 23, 1939 in Perry County, Kentucky, the son of the late Harlan and Rosie (Stidham) Spicer. Charlie was a heavy equipment operator for the old Irby Construction in Dyesburg, Tennessee and the old Tom Everitt Construction Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana, loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking. Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Alan Spicer, Mae’s son, Robert Fugate and a brother, Mark Spicer. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Mae (West) Spicer; two daughters, Clarissa Rose (Eddie) of Austin, Indiana and Caroline Spicer-Miller of Louisville, Kentucky, Mae’s daughters, Rhonda Everhart(Glenn) of Bedford, Indiana and Donna Miner (John) of Austin, Indiana; Mae’s son, Arlie Fugate of Scottsburg, Indiana; five brothers, David, Ray, Don and Lionel Spicer all of Gays Creek, Kentucky and Clint Spicer of Chavies, Kentucky; six sisters, Stella Sandlin of Carrollton, Kentucky, Mary Jane Edwards of Commiskey, Indiana, Sarah Sandlin, Lillie Davidson, Vonda Griffith and Anna Napier all of Gays Creek, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Travis Rose (Nolie), Devin Rose (Jamie), Michael Thomas (Haley), Carley Thomas, Shawn and Stephen Spicer, Chad Glenn (Kayla), Cara Glenn, Robert Fugate, Jenna Elam, Natasha Richie (Justin) and Jeremy Spicer and twenty great grandchildren.  Memorial Contributions may be given to the First Christian Church c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019 at First Christian Church with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and after 10 am on Monday at the First Christian Church.
