Claude W. Grider

Claude W. Grider, 87, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Indiana. He was born on March 1, 1927 in Thompsonville, Kentucky, the son of the late George and Fannie Lou (Melton) Grider. Claude was married on Dec. 16, 1946 to Bertha J. (Holder) Grider, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2014. He was a cabinet maker for old Faskes Kitchen Craft in Starlight, Indiana, a member of Willey’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Borden, Indiana and a U.S. Army paratrooper during W.W. II. In addition to his wife, Claude was preceded in death by a son, Larry McCaskill; seven brothers: John, Paul, Filmore, Clyde, Delmas, Eldon and Everitt Grider and four sisters: Maudie Wyatt, Elsie Montgomery, Ruby Bowen and Nina Mae Murphy. Survivors include two sons, Tony Grider of Sellersburg, Indiana and Steve Grider of Auburn, California; five daughters, Jan Tillman of Jacksonville, Florida, Linda Jewett of Cooperstown, North Dakota, Christine Smith of Austin, Indiana, Carol Wilson of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Rebecca Hall of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Nancy Hall of Underwood, Indiana, Lucy Sink of Portland, Oregon and Lottie Sutterfield of Indianapolis, Indiana; 31 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and after 10 am Wednesday.

Funeral Service: 12:00 Noon Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Forest Grove Cemetery (Willey's Chapel) near Borden, Indiana.
