Darrell Lynn Halcomb

Darrell Lynn Halcomb, 70, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born January 16, 1947 in Benham, Kentucky. Darrell was a retired AP Mechanic for the old U.S. Airways and worked in Louisville, Indianapolis and Charlotte. Prior to becoming an AP mechanic he worked for the old International Harvestor. Darrell was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked gardening, hunting and fishing. In addition, he also enjoyed photography and riding motorcycles in his younger years. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Darrell was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Clarence and Arlyn Halcomb and mother and stepfather, Launa and Paul Sparkman. Survivors include a son, Darrell Lynn Halcomb, II and his wife Shay of Chandler, Arizona; two daughters, Deanna P. West and her husband Scottie of Austin, Indiana and Cindy Skogsberg of Clover, South Carolina; three brothers, Terrell Sparkman and his wife Judy of Henryville, Indiana, Wendell Sparkman and his wife Linda of Lexington, Indiana and Scott Halcomb and his wife Jan of Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters, Melinda J. Sparkman of Lexington, Indiana and Doris Halcomb of Hamilton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Zachary Halcomb, Hannah Johnson (Tyler), Jacob Macias, Raegan and Landon Skogsberg, Taelor and Noah Halcomb; two great grandchildren, Nash and Otto Johnson and the mother of his children, Ruby Kasper. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, June 9, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with Rick Cox officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday and after 10 am Friday. Interment will be in Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
