David Thomas “Tommy” Garriott

David Thomas “Tommy” Garriott, 76 of Scottsburg, Indiana, died on Thursday, the 17th of November, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1940 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late David F and Eleanor Jean (Polly) Garriott. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1958. Tommy was a retired employee of Cummins Engine Corporation at the Columbus and Seymour Plants. He was also an accomplished and generational cattle rancher, who also enjoyed the meat goat industry towards the end of his career. Tommy was a member of the American Maine-Anjou Association, past President of the Indiana Maine-Anjou Association and a cattle judge for most of the County Fairs in the State of Indiana. Tommy was married on Sept. 25th 1982 to Denise (Vissing) Garriott, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Bert Garriott and his wife Tina of Seymour, Indiana and Crede Garriott of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Lois Anne Garriott-Runyan of Florida and Nina Garriott-Vehslage of Brownstown, Indiana; three grandsons, Seth, Samuel and Cole Garriott and two great grandchildren, Callie Renea and Kyson Blaine Garriott. Cremation was requested and entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial Contributions: Clark, Washington and Scott County 4-H c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.

A Celebration of Tommy’s Life Service will be held from 1 until 5:00 PM on November 20th at the Collins Family Center in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Denise, it's been a long time since we've talked, so sorry to learn of Tommy's passing.

Sad to hear of Tommy's passing. My husband of 38 years left this world also at age 76. We miss them. I believe Tommy was the one who left a tack in my seat in the 6th grade. I have a lot of respect for farmers.
