Deborah L. Haney, Attorney at Law, 62, died on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on August 8, 1952, the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Eunice M. (Boling ) Haney. Deborah had two successful careers. She began working for South Central Bell Telephone Company as a line worker and at the time of her retirement had advanced to a Customer Service Director. While working at Bell, she went to college at night completing her Bachelor’s Degree, and then earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the Brandeis School of Law in 1993. She was licensed to practice law in Indiana and Kentucky and did so in both states until she decided to concentrate her efforts in her beloved Scott County. Deborah was a talented litigator and earned the distinction as a member of the “Million Dollar Advocates Forum”. She was a practicing attorney, but she was indeed a “Counselor” at law to her friends and clients. Her greatest achievement was being a most loving and special mother to her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Lauren Rae Haney; two brothers, Chris Haney (Robin) of Owensboro, Kentucky and Mike Haney (Margie) of Whitesville, Kentucky; her friend, Elaine Pearl of Scottsburg, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.  Memorial contributions: CASA of Scott County c/o Collins Funeral Home.
