Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Smith, 52, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her residence. She was born on December 8, 1965 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of James H. and Sylvia (Roberts) Smith. Beth graduated in 1983 and played basketball for Highland High School in Highland, Indiana and then attended Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana on a basketball scholarship. She was employed at a bookbindery company in Chicago, Illinois for over 20 years, before moving to Scottsburg. Beth was a member of the Presbyterian Church, volunteered for the Knights of Columbus Bingo and loved to read. Survivors include her parents, Jim and Sylvia Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Richard G. Smith and wife Mary of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, April Barr and husband Thomas of Nashville, Indiana and Sharon Huddle and husband Brad of Greenwood, Indiana; five nieces and nephews. Matt Barr (Elyssa), Andrea Pisano (Greg), Katherine Huddle (Michael Parker), Alex and Emily Smith and one great niece, Charlotte Parker. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Cremation is requested following her visitation.
