Euel “Buck” Akemon, 88, died on June 16, 2016, in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was born on June 29, 1927 in Jackson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Luther Akemon and Chloe (Clark) Akemon-Wilson. Buck was a self-employed contractor and painter. He played softball in several local leagues and also was an umpire during the 1960’s through 1980’s for Little League Baseball. Buck was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Akemon and a sister, Faye Carpenter. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene (Davis) Akemon, a son: Donald Akemon of Scottsburg, Indian; two daughters: Nancy Akemon and Beverly Reynolds both of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Charles and Russell Foreman, both of Tyner, Kentucky; six sisters, Dorothy Rodgers of Dayton, Ohio, Jean Crawford of Kettering, Ohio, JoAnn Eversole of Berea, Kentucky, Sue Cunnigan of Gray Hawk, Kentucky, Peggy Cornett of Annville, Kentucky and Judy Tillery of McKee, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Monday, June 20, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home with cremation requested following his service. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm on Sunday and after 9 am Monday.
