George Robert Watson

George Robert Watson, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1942 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Simon Albert Watson and Wanda Lee (Greathouse) Watson. George graduated from Henryville High School in 1960. He was the owner and operator of the old Best Way Trucking Company in Scottsburg, Indiana, also a former salesperson for the old Jones Tire Company, had worked at Pepsi and was a farmer. George was a member of the Henryville Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Scott County Sheriff’s Posse, an avid bowler in the Scottsburg Men’s Bowling League and also a pilot. He was always good company, enjoyed telling stories, drinking coffee, entertaining his family and friends and loved jigsaw puzzles. George was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Nelson Dietrich and David Wood; a sister-in-law, Judy Watson and a nephew, Gregory George Watson. Survivors include three sisters, Ida Wood of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bertie Robertson and husband Tom and Marianna Dietrich all of Henryville, Indiana; a brother, John Watson of Scottsburg, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews. McClain Ave., Scottsburg, Indiana 47170.  George’s family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home for their wonderful care over the years.

 

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with Toby Jenkins officiating. Visitation: 10 am to 1 pm Saturday at Collins Funeral Home with cremation following services.

Bertie and Johnny, sincere sympathy. Very glad to have had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with George, driving around Henryville and reliving those great stories. He was a good friend.
