Gerald D. Hickman, 76, of Austin, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at his daughters’ residence. He was born on June 19, 1939 in Mitchell, Indiana, the son of the late William and Pearl (Wood) Hickman. Gerald was retired from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Seymour and Walsboro Plants after 35 years. He graduated from Austin High School in 1957, was a member of the Austin Christian Church, the Silver Creek Beagles Club and was a former 4H and Boyscout Leader. He was married on June 1, 1958 to Peggy A. (Taylor) Hickman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2015. Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Hall of Scottsburg, Indiana and Angie Bowlin of Dodge City, Kansas; three sons, Gerry and Kevin Hickman both of Austin, Indiana and Terry Hickman of Deputy, Indiana; two brothers, Charles Hickman of Scottsburg, Indiana and Robert Hickman of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Linda Howard of Hillview, Kentucky; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and his dog, Mazda. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Kay Coomer and eleven siblings. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
