Helen L. Slack, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on March 24, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Earl and Louise (Fayant) Blankenmeister. Helen was a retired reading tutor at Scottsburg Elementary School and enjoyed bird watching, reading and gardening her perennials. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Slack; a son, Robert R. Slack and a son-in-law, Joseph Eades. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Eades of Broomfield, Colorado; a sister, Sue Smith and her husband Bill of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Gene Blankenmeister of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Joseph and Sara Slack and Nate and Katie Eades and a great granddaughter, Leilani. Private Graveside Services were held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Scottsburg Cemetery.

Becky, I taught with your Mom many years at Scottsburg Elem. She was so much fun to work with. A wonderful and very kind teacher. The children were fortunate to be in her room. May God Bless, Paul and Janice Greco

Becky, I too taught with your mom at Hyland Elementary. she was a wonderful teacher and helper. This children loved her. So very sorry about your loss. I just now read it in our local paper. Know that you and your family are in our prayers and thoughts at this time.
