Helena Margaret Lawson, 96, of Little York, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on February 1, 1920 in Little York, Indiana, the daughter of the late Omer Gross and Lydia (Fricke) Gross. Helena was a former employee of the old Charlestown Powder Plant in Charlestown, Indiana and also a former custodian at the Salem Schools. She was also a member of the Little York Christian Church and the old Little York American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Helena was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Lawson on Oct. 4, 1995; a son, Ronald Dewayne Lawson; a sister, Rebecca Cravens and a brother, Herman Gross. Survivors include a son, James O. Lawson of Little York, Indiana; two daughters, Sharon Kaye Hurtt of Seymour, Indiana and Glenda Ann Howell of Little York, Indiana; six grandchildren, David Bruck, Todd Lawson, Rhonda Medlock, Stephanie Payne, Holly Richardson and Mendi Howell and nine great grandchildren.
