Irene M. McIntosh

Irene M. McIntosh, 82, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at IU Bloomington Hospice House. She was born on September 7, 1933 in Austin, Indiana, the daughter of the late Raymond Mitchell and Anna Marie (Risinger) Mitchell. Irene graduated from Austin High School in 1951 and was married on March 14, 1952 to Pastor Alex McIntosh, who passed away on Aug. 20, 2011. She was a former employee of the old U.S. Shoe Factory in Crothersville, Indiana, where she worked for 17 years and was a member of the Church Of God in Salem, Indiana. Irene enjoyed ministering to others along side her husband and after his death. She also enjoyed reading, especially her Bible. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Stout and a half brother, Jack Mitchell. Survivors include her daughter, Teresa S. McIntosh and her husband Mark Pitman of Bloomington, Indiana; her son, Douglas E. McIntosh and his wife Sherry of Bedford, Indiana; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in New Providence Cemetery near Austin, Indiana. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday and after noon on Friday at Collins Funeral Home.
