James L. Whitney

James L. Whitney, 72, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his residence.   He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Myron Whitney and Fern (Booker) England.  He was a retired forklift driver for Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, also a former employee of the old American Can Company and a self-employed contractor.  Jim graduated from Tampico High School, was the founding member of the Hoosier Edition Cloggers and enjoyed restoring old tractors.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Paul Whitney.  Survivors include three daughters, Volena G. Stoner of New Albany, Indiana, Melissa K. (Mark) Whitehead of Lockport, New York and Sharon M Soto of Louisville, Kentucky;  a son, James Todd Whitney of Sellersburg, Indiana; a brother, Claude Morgan of Crothersville, Indiana; a sister, Mary Whitney of Kansas; six grandchildren: Warren and Tessa Stoner, Justin and Blake Fenwick, Andrew Whitney and Ana-Kate Soto and two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ray Booth.  Memorial Contributions: The Family of James Whitney c/o Collins Funeral Home, 465 W. Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
