James Marvin Hale

James Marvin Hale, 86, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 5, 1929 in Richmond, Indiana, the son of the late Elbert Lee Hale and Helen Harriett (Hawkins) Hale. Jim graduated from Richmond High School in 1948 and then earned his Bachelors Degree from IU School of Business graduating in 1957. He was a retired employee of Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana and also worked at the Jay C Food store after his retirement. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid I.U. Fan and enjoyed all sports. Jim enjoyed being involved in his children and grandchildren’s educational and sporting activities. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Elbert Lee Hale Jr. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis D. (Sherron) Hale; two daughters, Barbara A. Jackson (Bernie) of Terre Haute, Indiana and Lisa D. Spencer (Rob) of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sons, Steve Hale (Jeanette) of Jasper, Indiana and Brad Hale (Sherri) of Austin, Indiana; a brother, Donald Hale of Richmond, Indiana and twelve grandchildren, Brandon Jackson, Brittany Janiszewski (Jeff), Brianna Jackson, Bradley, Bryan (Emily), Hunter and Cameron Spencer, Nicholas, Ashley, Shelby, Braden and Jameson Hale and one great grandson Liam Spencer. Funeral Service:
11:00 am Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at First Baptist Church
with burial in Bunker Hill Cemetery near Salem, Indiana. Visitation:
5 to 8 pm Monday at Collins Funeral Home and after 10 am Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
