James Richard Snelling, 70 of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1943 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the son of the late Stanley and Lillian Josephine (Bundren) Snelling. James was a retired truck driver for the old Colgate-Palmolive Plant in Jeffersonville, Indiana, a member of the Scottsburg Church of God and was a Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Snelling. Survivors include his wife, Dora L. (Reynolds) Snelling; five daughters, Sherry L. Kirk and her husband William of Austin, Indiana, Jamie Russell and her husband Bobby of Lexington, Indiana, Libby Donahaa of Scottsburg, Indiana, Billie Jo Matlock of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Evelyn Wiggins of Austin, Indiana; seven sons, James Snelling of Scottsburg, Indiana, Richard Snelling and his wife Michelle of Lanesville, Indiana, Mark Snelling and his wife Shannon of New Albany, Indiana, Travis Albertson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Jimmy Snelling and his wife Loretta of Austin, Indiana, Bobby Glenn Reynolds of Lexington, Indiana and James Matlock of Jeffersonville, Indiana; four sisters, Glenda Albertson and Geneva Snelling of Scottsburg, Indiana, Rachel Dunn of Sellersburg, Indiana and Gertrude Lewis of Jeffersonville, Indiana; a brother, Wilbur Lee Snelling of Jeffersonville, Indiana; 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
