James Truman "Sy" Satterly

James Truman “Sy” Satterly, 78, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on December 15, 1935 in Anderson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Orthey E. and Vila Faye (Corn) Satterly. Jim came to Indiana in 1956 to start his electric career which lasted 59 years, working in several communities in Central and Southern Indiana before coming to Scottsburg, Indiana. He was employed the last 41 years with the Scottsburg Electric Department, retiring as Superintendent. He helped start and was a member of the Elevation Church where he also served as an Elder, was member of Gideons International, former Vice-President of IMPA (Indiana Municipal Power Agency) and a former member of the IOOF Lodge # 555. Survivors include his wife, Bertha M. (Back) Hall-Satterly; three daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Simpson and her husband Hershel and Trudy Hoagland and her husband Jeff all of Scottsburg, Indiana and Sheila Whelan and her husband Mike of Douglasville, Georgia; a son, Pastor Gary Satterly and his wife Wilma of Scottsburg, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Garner and her husband Jeff of Town Creek, Alabama; three stepsons, Stephen Hall and his wife Laurie Hearn of Santa Claus, Indiana, David Hall and his wife Elvia of Dale, Indiana and Jeffery Hall and his wife Sandy of Austin, Indiana; a brother, Harrison D. Satterly and his wife Betty of Glasgow, Kentucky; two sisters, Beulah Mae Cook and her husband Sam and Marcella F. Hood and her husband James all of Bloomfield, Kentucky; 21 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Gilbert Satterly. Graveside Services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Lawrenceburg Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Memorial Contributions: His Church Building Fund c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
