L.G. Stangle

L. G. Stangle, 92, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 19, 1926 in New Castle, Kentucky, the son of the late Joe Stangle and Ruth (Moore) Stangle. L.G. was a retired longshoreman for the L.I.A. Union. In addition, he retired from the U.S. Coast Guard serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. L.G. was also a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and a member of the Lexington Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Stangle in 1979. a sister; Lorraina Kuhlman and four brothers: Carroll, Dalton, Hurley and Kenneth Stangle. Survivors include his companion, Janice M. Capps of Lexington, Indiana; three sons, John Stangle and his wife Catherine of Scottsburg, Indiana and David Stangle and his wife Tracy of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and Lee Stangle of Ft. Ann, New York; two daughters, Ruth Ann Smith and Lorraine Cromey both of Tyler, Texas; two stepsons, James J. Capps and his wife Sherri of North Vernon, Indiana and William A. Capps and his wife Joanie of Seymour, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Alida Kriete and her husband Eddie of Seymour, Indiana; two brothers, Wayne Douglas Stangle of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert Earnest Stangle and his wife Linda of Turner Station, Kentucky; four sisters, Geneva Looney and Shirley Rayburn both of Bedford, Kentucky, DeEtta Sanders of Covington, Kentucky and Linda Ruth Proctor and her husband Jim of Carrollton, Kentucky; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 11:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home with Mitchell S. Hutchins, officiating. Visitation: 5 to 8 pm Thursday and after 9 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lexington Cemetery.
