Larry Edward Gates, 71, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his residence.   He was born in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Lester Lee and Goldie M. (Steward) Gates.  Larry was a loader and scale operator for the old Stidham Auto in Blocher, Indiana for 25 years and continued at Madden’s Salvage until his retirement.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Paynesville, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald “Buck” Gates.  Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Elizabeth (Higdon) Gates; a son, Cory Edward Gates of Lexington, Indiana;  four brothers, Danny R. (Linda) Gates of Scottsburg, Indiana, Linnie L. Gates of Little York, Indiana, Johnny Gates or Gainesville, Georgia and Lester L. (Linda) Gates of Edinburgh, Indiana; two sisters, Darlene (Bill) Layton of New Washington, Indiana and Verna Gates of Scottsburg, Indiana and two grandsons, Clayton Edward and Matthew Reed Gates both of Seymour, Indiana.   Online condolences:www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
