Lena B. Parks

Lena B. Parks, 90, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus. She was born in Manchester, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Dave and Nora (Bowling) Gilbert.  Lena was former owner of the London Hotel in London, Kentucky and the Seymour Locker Plant in Seymour, Indiana.  She was also a former greeter at Walmart, former employee of Morgan Foods and the old U.S. Shoe Corp., a farmer’s wife and a member of New Frankfort Pentecostal Church.  Lena was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Parks; six brothers, Nath, Carlo, Junior, Joe, Jeffie and Paul Gilbert and four sisters, Rosa and Ollie Gilbert, Martha Wilson and Dora Nolan.  Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Brenda) Parks and Darrell (Phyllis) Parks all of Lexington, Indiana; a daughter, Ethel Evans of North Vernon, Indiana; two brothers, George (Mary) Gilbert of Scottsburg, Indiana and Hiram (Liza) Gilbert of London, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Marty and Rodney Evans, Vicky Estes, Gary, Missy, Chris and Brad Parks and ten great grandchildren, Jesse, Chrissy and Tanner Evans, Noble and Jude Estes, Chase, Reese, C.J. and Betty Faye Parks and Peyton Owens; one unborn great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  Online condolences: www.collinsfuneralhome.net.

Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana and after 10 am Monday at her church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Monday, May 11, 2015 at New Frankfort Pentecostal Church with burial in
Spurgeon Cemetery.

So sorry to read about Lena passing. I worked w/her for a short time, but we became friends quickly. I loved her and Homer's sense of humor. Lots of good memories looking at the pictures. She was a wonderful loving woman and will be missed I'm sure. The family has done a wonderful job w/her memory. Teresa
