Lois I. Cheatham, 84, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on December 2, 1931 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lawrence Albert Hobbs and Esther (Whiteside) Hobbs. Lois was a retired from the old Kimball Office Furniture Company in Borden, Indiana and also worked at the old Beta Shoe Company in Salem, Indiana. She was a member of the Mt. Eden Christian Church, the Loyal Order of Women’s Moose #2324, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #234 all in Scottsburg, Indiana and the VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary #6636 in Salem, Indiana. Lois was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Fox, four brothers, Max, Donald, Ralph and Emmett Hobbs; and four sisters, Maxine Hobbs, Marjorie Gettelfinger, Lucille Piper and Janet Robison. Survivors include her son, Leon Cheatham and his wife Sharon of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Doyle Hobbs of Scottsburg, Indiana and Russell Hobbs of Columbus, Indiana; companion, Howard “Zeke” Weston of Salem, Indiana; numerous grandchildren, including Abraham Fox and his wife Selisa and several great and great great grandchildren. Memorial Contributions: American Diabetes Association c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Eden Cemetery near Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and after 9 am Wednesday.

sorry to hear of my aunt's passing, my condolences to the Cheatham and Hobbs families. I have many fond memories of summers I spent at her home with Leon and Irene while growing up
