Lyman was such a sweet soul to us. He helped me in coin collecting and just general knowledge of life. He so reminded me of Burl Ives whenever he spoke. He will be missed. May you, his family, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

So sorry to hear of Lyman's passing. My dad, Raymond Hopwood and Vern, Lyman's dad were 1st cousins. Vern and Lyman would come down and visit Daddy when we were growing up. When I was in elementary school Marla came with them. She and I were close in age. I taught at Brownstown Middle School and High School in the late 70s and early 80s when I started teaching. Mr. Duffy, who knew Lyman, teased me about my solitaire diamond engagement ring in 1982. He told me it was glass. One day Lyman came into the teacher's lunchroom and he asked Lyman to look at it with his jeweler's glass. Lyman told him my ring wasn't a cheap imitation. That's when I told Mr. Duffy that Lyman was my second cousin! We all got a good laugh out of that. Of course Lyman knew we were related when he heard my last name was Hopwood. ☺️Our prayers are with you all. Janis Hopwood Hall

When Lyman was conservation officer in Jackson County everyone knew his name. He did such a wonderful job, everyone said you better not hunt out of season or Lyman Goben will catch you. I respect him and I know God will say, well done good and faithful servant.
