Manuel Tomas Dancel, M.D., 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 25, 1925 in Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, the son of the late Vicente and Eulalia (Tomas) Dancel. Dr. Dancel graduated from Ilocos Norte High School in Laoag Ilocos Norte in 1948 and continued medical school at the University of St. Tomas, Philippines. He was married on April 20, 1959 to Remedios A. (Mata) Dancel, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2011. He and his wife operated the old Dr. Dancel’s Family Medical Practice for 24 years in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was a lifetime member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and served in WW II as a Recognized Guerilla in the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, Dr. Dancel was preceded in death by two brothers, Federico and Pedro Dancel and a sister, Rosa Ventura. Survivors include two daughters, Clarissa “Cleo” Dancel-Warren and her husband David of Scottsburg, Indiana and Michelle L. Dancel-Light and her husband Steve of Chicago, Illinois; five sisters, Lucena Ericta and Encarnacion Silvano both of the Philippines, Consuelo Ramos of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Gregoria Roberto of Scottsburg, Indiana and Marina Miguel of Chicago, Illinois and his beloved pet dog, Missy.  Memorial Contributions: His Church c/o Collins Funeral Home. in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at American Martyrs Catholic Church with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
