Marvin L. Bixler

Marvin L. Bixler, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at his residence. He was born on January 29, 1939 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Ervin and Lula (Watterson) Bixler. Marvin graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1957. He was the owner and operator of the old Bixler Logging Company and Bixler’s Mobile Home Transportation in Scottsburg, Indiana. Marvin also retired laborer from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, was a former employee of IRBY Construction Company, the old Scott Manufacturing and Clark County REMC. Marvin was a member of the Zoah Christian Church, Amick, Baker, Kellems FOP Lodge #156 and Scottsburgh Masonic lodge # 572. He enjoyed gardening, bird hunting and loved going to tractor shows. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Donald Miller. Marvin was married on Feb. 14, 1994 to Roxanna (McGinnis) Bixler, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons Keith Bixler (Tracey) of Lexington, Indiana and Kelly Bixler (Christy) of Scottsburg, Indiana; two stepsons, Anthony Westmoreland of New Albany, Indiana and Justin Westmoreland of Scottsburg, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Renee Westmoreland (David Hummer) of Boonton, New Jersey and Carla Zellers (Scott) of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Robert Bixler (Debbie) of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Mary Lou Bowen (Lee) of Scottsburg, Indiana, Edna Thomas of Henryville, Indiana and Betty Jean Bradshaw of St. Petersburg, Florida; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial Contributions: Scott County Relay for Life c/o Collins Funeral Home Scottsburg, Indiana.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Wednesday and after 9 am Thursday.

Marvin will always be remembered, along with Kelly and Keith. I had some great times as a child riding on the tractors, motorcycles and big trucks! What a great guy, I know he will surely be missed. Thoughts and prayers for the family.
