Mary Kay Gates, 66, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Parkwest Medical Center West in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born on May 10, 1952 in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Junior F. Hunter and Doshie (Gray) Hunter. Mary was married on July 25, 1970 to Donald N. “Buck” Gates, who passed away on Dec. 19, 2003. She was a homemaker and a member of the Blocher United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed crafting and traveling, going to numerous exciting destinations with her family. She especially loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren that she adored. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Hunter and Charles Gray and a sister, Shirley Spicer. Survivors include her two daughters, April Lee Fugate and her husband Jimmy of Lexington, Indiana and Amanda Kay Gates of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters, Barbara Shepherd and Bobbie Jean Gilbertson both of Lexington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jacob Fugate and his wife Tiffany and Savanah Rudd and her husband Nathan and six great grandchildren, Harper, Lilly, Max, Preston, Braxton and Mackenzie. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with Matt Craig officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and after 9 am Wednesday. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana.

Sad. didn't know of Mary's passing until saw in local paper. went to elementary school with her at Lexington, In....I wish I had known.....So many of our classmates we lost contact with when we were moved to Scottsburg jr. high. Prayers to the family of Mary Hunter. she was a sweet soul. God Bless.
