Norvel Lynn Jones, 78, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at VA Regional Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on February 1, 1939 in Logan, West Virginia, the son of the late John Herman Jones and Emmy (Cavender) Jones. Norvel has lived in Scottsburg for the past 12 years and prior to moving here lived in Michigan for 42 years. He was a retired labor for the old Pioneer Foundry in Jackson, Michigan and also had worked at the Brooks Foundry in Albion, Michigan until in closed. Norvel was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He was married on Oct. 30, 1964 to Carol Ann (Smith) Jones. Norvel was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Jones; a son, Norvel Dean Jones and his wife Jan of Jackson, Michigan; two daughters, Davina Jones of Scottsburg, Indiana and Regina Jones of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Lola Mae Peak and her husband Ray of Mississippi; six grandchildren, Sara Laing, Jason Howell, Amy Hatcher, Lisa Brow, Phillip Jones and Kalinda Vogt and nine great grandchildren, Kennedy, Riley, Jordan, Jasmine, Jordyn, Robbie, Chelsea, Ethan and Lucas.
