Randy “Romer” Helton

Randy “Romer” Helton, 67, of Blocher, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at his daughters’ residence. He was born on August 4, 1951 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Wick and Macy (Bowling) Helton. Randy was a former employee of Arizona Beef Processing in Phoenix, Arizona and had also worked at the old Marble Hill Power Plant and as a seasonal worker for Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana. He attended the Lighthouse Church in Blocher, Indiana, loved to play euchre, listening to gospel music and watching NASCAR. Randy’s favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and he was an avid University of Kentucky fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James Edward, Kenneth, Curtis and Seldon Helton and four sisters, Ora Piet, Lillie Dean, Marcheta Spencer and Marie Rose. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa D. Ogle and husband Danny and Leigh Ann Odegaard and husband Kenny all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Donald Helton and wife Helen of Lexington, Indiana and Ernest Helton and wife Jeannie of Kent, Indiana; two sisters, Bernice Osborne and husband Bill of Phoenix, Arizona and Sharon Rea and husband Merle of Holton, Indiana; four grandchildren, Caleb, Colin and Jacob Ogle and Preston Odegaard; his companion, Delila Gerhring of Blocher, Indiana; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Mike LaFountain officiating. Visitation: 5 to 9 pm on Monday and 12:30 to 2 pm on Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be in Helton Family Cemetery.
