Tom R. Slack

Tom R. Slack, 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Herbert and Marguerite (Bickel) Slack. Tom graduated from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri in 1959, then earned is Bachelors Degree from the University of Missouri and his Masters Degree from Indiana University Southeast. He was a retired art teacher for Scott County School District II in Scottsburg, Indiana, teaching at the Scottsburg Middle and High Schools. Prior to moving to Scottsburg, he taught for 10 years at the Valley Park School in Missouri. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at his Cabin on the Big River in Missouri. He loved to airbrush and paint, ride his motorcycle and mow and take care of his yard. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. Slack and a son-in-law, Joe Eades. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen L. (Blankenmeister) Slack; a daughter, Becky Eades of Broomfield, Colorado; a sister, Carol McClanahan and her husband Gene of Wildwood, Missouri; four grandchildren, Joseph and Sara Slack and Nate and Katie Eades and a great granddaughter, Leilani. Funeral Service: 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with John Lowry officiating. Visitation: 10 am to 12 noon Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.

Helen I was so sorry to read of Tom's passing in the Delt Rainbow. I have fond memories of him during our Mizzou and Delta Tau Delta years. He was a good friend and will forever be missed.
