Troy Lee Saylor, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on March 19, 1935 in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of the late Andrew and Mae Belle (Taylor) Saylor. Troy was retired from Laborers International Union Local # 741, worked as a yard superintendent for Force Construction in Columbus, Indiana and a core maker for Berlin Chapman’s Foundry in Berlin, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Lick Branch Baptist Church near Deputy, Indiana, U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion Post # 234 in Scottsburg, Indiana. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Claude, Roy, Dempsey and Eddie “Rosie” Saylor and two sisters, Dorothy Akers and Minnie Blanton. Survivors include his wife, Betty L. (Lyle) Saylor; two sons, Michael Saylor (Linda) of Columbus, Indiana and Troy Lynn Saylor of Vallonia, Indiana; a brother, Bronson Parkey Saylor (Marcia) of Wallace, Michigan; a sister, Maxine Bass of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Michael Saylor and Sasha O’Doyle and five great grandchildren, Aidan and Alexis Saylor, Mar and Delaney O’Doyle and Madison Clement. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with burial in Lick Branch Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana.
