Violet Jeanette Koerner, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on January 2, 1938 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charlie Shepherd and Viva (Cortner) Shepherd. Jeanette was married on Nov. 11, 1958 to John M. Koerner, who passed away on June 4, 2004. She was the former owner and operator of the old Doors & Decor Floral Shop in Scottsburg, Indiana, a member of Scottsburg Presbyterian and also the former president and member of the Garden Club. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jess Koerner. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Penny Koerner of Nabb, Indiana; a brother, William C. Shepherd of Lexington, Indiana; two granddaughters, Valorie Ruzicka and her husband Brandon of Uniontown, Indiana and Amanda Dye of Bargersville, Indiana and two great grandchildren, Maverick and Harper Ruzicka.
