Alfonda “Fonda” Lea Higdon, 75, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at her residence. She was born on January 24, 1939 in Henryville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Alphonso and Velva (Cullins) Butts. Alfonda was a former employee of the old Beta Shoe Company, the old Raytel Company and the old Indiana Army Ammunition Plant and was a member of the Zoah Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ronald L. Higdon; a son, Dane Higdon; a grandson, Ricky Deaton; a brother, Robert Butts; a son-in-law, James Grider and a grandson-in-law, Mike Cline. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Deaton-Rogers and her husband David of Scottsburg, Indiana and Dawn Grider of Henryville, Indiana; a brother, John Butts and his wife Donna of Henryville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Shawna and Jeremy Grider, Renee Deaton-Duerr (Thomas) and D.J.
