Alva McClellan Fluhr, Sr., 78, of Henryville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Peter Paul and Ruby Pearl (Keene) Fluhr. Alva was a retired maintenance man for the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana, where he worked for 11 years and also formerly worked at the old Scott County Home and the old Indiana Ammunition Plant. Alva was a U.S. Navy veteran and also a veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard, a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle and the Moose Lodge # 1757 both in Sellersburg, Indiana. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Phillip, Peter Paul, Jr., Joe, Donnie Wayne, Jackie Lee and Edward Fluhr and a sister, Clara Elizabeth Williams. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sally Jo (Sweet) Fluhr; six daughters, Belinda (Kevin Garner) Bowling of North Vernon, Indiana, Wanda (John) Burge of Scottsburg, Indiana, Janice (John) Mayville of New Albany, Indiana, Anne (Timothy) Meredith of Scottsburg, Indiana, Alisa (Phillip) Amos of Austin, Indiana and Bonnie (Brian) Embry of Sellersburg, Indiana; five sons, William (Joyce) Howell of Scottsburg, Indiana, Alva M. (Tawyna) Fluhr, Jr. and Pete (Becky) Fluhr all of Sellersburg, Indiana, Phillip (Tiffany) Fluhr of Salem, Indiana and Stanley (Jessica) Fluhr of Pekin, Indiana; a brother, Charles (Delores) Fluhr of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Ruby Sweet, Grace Campton and Martha Ann Fluhr all of Scottsburg, Indiana; 38 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
