Bertha J. Grider, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana.  She was born on April 10, 1926 in Broadway, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Jake and Annie (Gilbert) Holder and was married on Dec. 16, 1946 to Claude W. Grider.  Bertha was a retired teacher for the Clark County Headstart in Underwood, Indiana and a member of the Willey’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Borden, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by a son, Larry McCaskill; a brother: Allan Holder and four sisters, Eula Phillips, Lois Laughinhouse, Mary Brooks and Onita Walker.  Survivors include her husband, Claude W. Grider; two sons, Tony Grider of Sellersburg, Indiana and Steve Grider of Auburn, California;  five daughters, Janice Tillman of Jacksonville, Florida, Linda Jewett of Cooperstown, North Dakota, Christine Smith of Austin, Indiana, Carol Wilson of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Rebecca Hall of Scottsburg, Indiana;  a sister, Geneive Hughes of Sanford, North Carolina; 31 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.   Online condolences:www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
