Charles M. “Charlie” Richey, 81, lifelong resident of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana after a brief illness. He was born on May 10, 1936 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Marshall V. and Margee (Watterson) Richey. Charlie graduated from Scottsburg High School and then attended and graduated from Barber School in Louisville, Kentucky. He was married on Dec. 25, 1960 to Doris M. (Bowling) Richey, who survives. Charlie was a self-employed Barber and owner of the old Richey’s Barber Shop in Scottsburg, Indiana for 41 years and a member of the old Redman Lodge. He loved playing cards, going to the Casino’s and horse racing. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary A. Richey. Survivors in addition to his wife Doris, include a daughter, Lori A. and husband Steve Richie of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son, Brian C. and wife Jamie Richey of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; two sisters Dolores M. Blankenbaker of Scottsburg, Indiana and Julie A. McDonald of Louisville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Christy, Lauren, Ashley, Lindsay, Sabryn, Marley and Teagan; eleven great grandchildren, Jared, Kendra, Alyssa, Victoria, Madalyn, Bryson, Madison, Hunter, Hannah, Myles and Sienna and three great great grandchildren.
