Charles S. “Charlie” Rode, 63 of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at his residence. He was born on October 1, 1954 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Melvin F. Rode and Grace I. (Stutsman) Rode. Charlie graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1972. He was a former hotel manager at the Hyatt in Louisville, Kentucky and also had worked at the old Mariann Travel Inn and Ramada Inn both in Scottsburg, Indiana. Charlie enjoyed all kinds of gardening, but especially produce and flower gardens. Survivors include a brother, Marvin Rode and wife Laurel of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Wilma Kendall of Scottsburg, Indiana and Joyce Scroggins and husband Ray of Elizabethtown, Indiana; five nieces and nephews, Robert “Rob” and Delbert “Bert” Kendall, Teresa Lueders, Jennifer Hamelman and Christine Robbins and six great nieces and nephews, Kevin, Hannah, Zack, Sarah (Devin), Lauren and Olivia and friends who cared for him, Kevin and Jackie Willis from Commiskey, Indiana.
