Dina Lee (Smallwood) Guernsey

Dina Lee Guernsey, 85, of Henryville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, Indiana. She was born on March 20, 1931 in Henryville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harold “Brownie” Smallwood and Martha (Prall) Smallwood. Dina was a lifelong resident of Henryville, Indiana and graduated from Henryville High School. She was married on Nov. 4, 1950 to George H. Guernsey, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1992. Dina and her husband were the former owners of the old Guernsey’s Garage in Henryville, Indiana and were also the proprietors of the Shell Station on I-65 in Henryville, Indiana. She then was an admitting clerk and retired from Clark Memorial Hospital and also formerly worked at the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Dina was a active member of the Henryville Presbyterian Church. She loved to bake and always remembered her family and friends birthdays with a card or some of her cookies or a cake. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Houk and Betty Smallwood and a grandson, Kenton George Elrod. Survivors include a son Kevin Guernsey (Debby) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; a daughter, Roxanne Elrod of Jeffersonville, Indiana; two brothers, Rex Smallwood (Bonnie) of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Bob Smallwood (Ellen) of Greenwood, Indiana; a sister, Gerri Winters (Charlie) of Memphis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Matt Guernsey, Leah Seng (Steve), Konrad Guernsey, Blake Elrod and Rebekah Willinger (Pete) and seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Gavin, Olivia, Lillian, Georgia, Zeke and Kayleb. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Henryville Presbyterian Church with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Henryville, Indiana. Visitation: 3 to 8 pm Monday and after 9 am Tuesday at Henryville Presbyterian Church
