Douglas Burns, 80, of Underwood, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his residence. He was born on March 23, 1939 in Perry County, Kentucky, the son of the late Steve and Mershal (Gross) Burns. Doug was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Burbank United School District in Burbank, California, was a veteran of the California Army National Guard and was activated during the Watts Riot in Burbank, California. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Chanley Joan Burns, Maggie Cartwright, Doris Daniels, Kaye Murphy and Jean M. Morgan and two brothers, Ronald and Donald Burns. Survivors include his daughter, Shellee Burns-Hernandez of Northridge, California; a brother, Steve Burns, Jr. and wife Mickey of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Carole Molina and husband Burt of Montgomery, Alabama and Linda Hayes and husband Gary of Lexington, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Scott County Relay for Life c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
