Edna Mae Byrd, 93 of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Venice Hospice House in Venice, Florida. She was born on December 11, 1921 in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of the late James Jefferson and Lillie Luvicia (Whitlatch) Gladden. Edna was married on Sept. 20, 1941 to Lawrence Leslie Byrd, who preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2010, they lived in Washington County since 1969. She was a retired clerk for the
U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana and attended the New Salem Church Of God near Salem, Indiana. In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by four brothers, Jeff, Bert, Frank and Clyde Gladden and three sisters, Inez Bridgewater, Elva Nicholson and Margie White. Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia (David) Weber of Glasgow, Kentucky, Linda (Byron) McClellan of Salem, Indiana, Sandra (Randall) Marks of Sarasota, Florida and Connie (Steve) Mount of Lake Wales, Florida; nine grandchildren, Brad King, Barbara Burks, Jennifer Hoke, Shannon Cohen, Laura Wanke, Nathan Marks, Audra Friedman, Booker and Cole Mount and eleven great grandchildren.
