Elena Grigoryants, 60, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on October 3, 1956 in Andijan, Russia, the daughter of the late Aslan Grigoryants and Olga (Androsova) Grigoryants. Elena was a retired geologist in Russia before immigrating to the United States with her daughter. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and made many dolls for people in our community. Elena was also a talented musician and loved her dog, Sophie very much. All of Elena’s crocheting materials were donated in her memory by her daughter to the Scottsburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Karina Demikhova of San Francisco, California; a brother, Sergei Grigoryants of Sochi, Russia; a sister, Galina Grigoryants of Sochi, Russia and numerous nieces and nephews.

My heartfelt sympathies to all in the loss of your loved one. As you lean on one another for needed comfort during such a trying time, May you also have comfort from the scriptures. Death was not part of God’s original purpose for mankind. In fact, Isaiah 25:8 says "the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will swallow up death forever." You also have the hope of seeing your loved one again in the promised resurrection at John 5:28, 29.
