Frances Lee Smith, 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at University of Louisville Hospital. She was born on October 15, 1935 in Lee County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Fran Barnett and Anna Mae (Johnson) Barnett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Frances was married on Dec. 30, 1953 to John Smith, Sr., who died on March 21, 2005. She loved to work crossword puzzles, sew, crochet and cook. Frances also loved to take care of and spend time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Smith, Jr.; three brothers, Billy, Tony and John David Barnett and two sisters, Nana Hensley and Patsy Paris. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Bowling and Dana Gunter both of Scottsburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Tonja Porter Pasley (Ken), Rickey Lee Porter, Jr (Monica), Joshua Ryan Burris (Hortencia), Bradley Alan Bowling, Jamie Michelle Gunter Allen (Chuck), William Joseph and Sean Anthony Gunter and John Taylor Smith (Ashley); thirteen great grandchildren, Becca, Brittany, Zach, Joseph, Ashlee, Jocelyne, Brookylne, Alison, Blake, Wesley, Lexi, Miley and Julie and three great grandchildren, Bentley, Aleigha and Ian.
