Gwen Kay Peacock, 59, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on July 27, 1960 in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Dale and Patricia A. (Weathers) Shireman. Gwen was married on May 25, 1991 to Frederick “Freddie” Peacock, who passed away on Dec. 4, 2017. She graduated from Scottsburg High School and was a former waitress and manager for Huddle House in Austin, Indiana. Gwen enjoyed gardening, fishing and kayaking. Gwen was known for having pallet and yard sales and never drove by a yard sale that she didn’t stop to see what kind of bargain she could find. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Dale Shireman. Survivors include three sons, James Earl Mullins and Cody Peacock (Kristen) all of Austin, Indiana and Andrew Peacock (Jessi) of Scottsburg, Indiana; her mother, Patricia Shireman of Austin, Indiana; a daughter, Destiny Palmer of Scottsburg, Indiana; a stepson, Bradley L. Peacock (Hope) of Scottsburg, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Kimberly McDuffie (Jessie) of Melbourne, Florida and Treasure Davis (Robert) of Corydon, Indiana; three brothers, Rick Shireman of Austin, Indiana, Martin Shireman (Sherry) of Seymour, Indiana and Steve Shireman of New Albany, Indiana; a sister, Kathy Sveum (Scott) of Dixon, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Lexi, Sara, Abby, Atlanta, Ariel, Lillian, Bella and one grandson on the way; numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Applegate officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm on Friday and after 10 am on Saturday. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.

I'm sorry to hear this. My daughter spent a lot of time at her home when she was a teenager. Such a good woman. I also didn't know her husband had passed, so sorry for all the families loss...

We are so sad to hear of Gwen’s passing. Gwen & I spent a lot of fun times together in the Berna addition. She was such a great childhood friend. We are praying for her family & are so sorry for your loss.

I only knew Gwen only a short time through Destiny Palmer, But Gwen was a kind lady and she loved her her Family and would do anything for them. She will be missed by family and those her love her. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry for your lost! Gwen was a wonderful woman. She took me in as her own for a short period of time in 1998. I grew up with her son. Pat, Earl, Andrew & Cody, you all are in my thoughts. This breaks my heart. :(
