Helen was a gracious expert who shared her love of plants generously. I remember her marvelous daffodil garden and a shady hillside of wonderful ferns and hostas.

Helen was a valuable member of the Scott County Master Gardeners for many, many years and attended meetings regularly. We will always remember her expertise with hostas, daylillies, etc., and her good knowledge and advice for gardeners in Indiana. She will be sorely missed in the community.

My father, Elmer Moody, always called her his double cousin. She made fried green tomatoes one visit in the 1970's, oh so good! She always would postmark letters from Leota for us all. She set a strong example.

Helen will always remain forever in our hearts. When we moved to our farm and became involved with the gardening community, she was there to help. She was a welcoming, loving mentor to us in our love of gardening and introduced us to the world of daffodils. She shared with us many of her labeled treasures which we planted and passed along to the new owners. If only we had of saved a bulb or two. Helen, thank you for your love and light. You will always be remembered and treasured for your kind and loving spirit. You touched our lives and we will always remember. There will never be a time that we see a daffodil bloom and don't think of Helen.

I was ever so lucky to meet my cousin in summer of 2016. When I met Helen, I did not know she was my grandfather's cousin until I took out photos and started talking about the old times. When she saw a photo of my great grandmother Richey and another of my great Aunt America, she said, you mean Aunt America? I will never forget. My migraine intensified as I suffer from them unfortunately right there, and then. I wish horribly I could have brought together my grandfathers family to meet her. We are far away but God has brought us ever so closer. I am in pursuit of carrying on those dreams of the Richey clan and preserving Pigeon Roost as a National Monument as it should be. With bleeding hearts we grieve...promises to meet our angels are hereby given.
