Henry L. Burton, 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana. He was born on September 4, 1931 in Stanford, Kentucky, the son of the late Bill Burton and Mary (Reynolds) Lynch. Henry was married on Sept. 3, 1949 to Christine Wilson. He was the retired owner and operator of Burton Saw Mill in Blocher, Indiana, also a former employee of the old Scott County Stone Co. in Lexington, Indiana and the old Standard Material and Martin Marietta in Hanover, Indiana. Henry was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Reynolds and a sister, Louise Gibble. Survivors include his wife, Christine Burton; two sons, Robert Burton (Gail) of Scottsburg, Indiana and Michael Burton (Sheila) of Salem, Indiana; three daughters, Debra Shouse (Joe) of Floral City, Florida, Bonnie Burns (Rick) of Scottsburg, Indiana and Linda Allaben (Greg) of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Bill Reynolds of Scottsburg, Indiana and Jimmy Reynolds of South Carolina; a sister, Ruth Simpson of Scottsburg, Indiana; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Cremation was requested. Burial will be at a later date in Scottsburg Cemetery. Memorial Contributions: Scott County Relay For Life c/o: Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
