Iva Frances (Ivy) Price Martin, 93, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died peacefully at her home on, Monday, January 19, 2015. She was born on May 12, 1921, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Thomas Roscoe and Katie (Shearer) Price. Ivy was a homemaker, mother of ten children, and co-owner of Martin’s Auto Supply. She graduated from Manual High School Class of 1939 in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church in Scottsburg, where she was a certified lay speaker, a Sunday school teacher for the Four Square Class for over 49 years, past president and member of the Honeyrunners and served in several offices within the United Methodist Women’s Group. Ivy was a 50 year member of the O.E.S. Chapter #107 in Scottsburg where she held multiple offices. She was also a charter member of the Southern Indiana Poetry Club, a member of the International Poet Laureate Club, and author of three poetry books. She volunteered at Scott Memorial Hospital for many years and held multiple offices in the Scott Memorial Hospital Guild and also served as past secretary for the Southeastern Area Hospital Guild. She was a volunteer at local nursing homes and was the recipient of the 2006 Scottsburg Mayor’s “Good Neighbor Family Heritage Award.” Ivy was a member of the Scott County Historical Society and served as its publicity chairman, past president of the Scott County Republican Women’s Club, past president of the Friendship Club, past secretary of the YIH Home Extension Club, past member of the Plymouth Homemaker’s Club, member of the Red Hat Society, a guardian of Job’s Daughters, an SHS Band Booster, and a loyal Warrior & Warriorettes basketball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. “Bob” Martin on May 11, 2003; a grandson, Todd Gambrell; daughter-in-law, Jan Martin; six brothers, Tom, Howard, George, Charlie, Jim and Jack Price and five sisters, Lillian Fields, Ruth Rozier, Katie Jones, Mary Myers and her twin sister, Nellie Sullivan. Survivors include two sons, Ron Martin of Rodeo, California, and John T. Martin (Janice) of Scottsburg; eight daughters, Arleen Schulze (Manfred) of Indianapolis, Bonnie Church (David), Jeanie Borden (Ray), Linda Wilson (Denny), all of Scottsburg, Lois Gambrell (Rev. Bill) of Acworth, Georgia, Pam Colwell (Bobby) of Austin, Rev. Rebecca Suter (Rev. Mark) of Martinsville, and Joyce Gray (Brent) of North Vernon; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Dalton of Pittsboro, Indiana. Loving care was given by Roberta Stacy and Norita Applegate.
