J.W. Geralde, 81, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on December 26, 1935 in Scott County, Indiana, the son of the late Omer and Ruby P. (Strouse) Geralde. J.W. graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1954 and then earned an Associate Degree from Spencerian Business College in Louisville, Kentucky in 1956. He was a retired payroll supervisor for the old American Can Company in Austin, Indiana, where he worked for 35 years. J.W. and Joan also had a private cleaning service and worked for various businesses in Scott County. In addition, he also gave private piano lessons for over 30 years and had worked at Collins Funeral Home for 10 years. J.W. was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Leota, Indiana and has been a member of the IOOF Lodge # 555 in Scottsburg, Indiana for over 55 years. Earlier in life, he loved participating and playing in the local Softball and Bowling Leagues. He also was an avid collector of Disney Memorabilia. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan (Richey) Geralde; three daughters, Jeneice and husband Rick Zollman of Scottsburg, Indiana, Joni and husband John Campbell of St. Cloud, Florida and JoEtta and husband Mike Stahl of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Judy Taflinger of Scottsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jay and Brooke Rutledge, Jordan Powell (Drew), Tanner and Allison Campbell, Tristan and Alexa Stahl and four great grandchildren, Keanan Furnish, James, Rutledge, Jr., Cooper and Jenna Rutledge. To: Joann and family. I am so sorry to hear that J.W. has passed. I have known him for many years and have enjoyed his friendship more than I can express. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him for 20 plus years. He was a dear friend of mine and will never be forgotten. RIP old friend.
