Jean “Jeanie” Phillips, 73, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born March 9, 1941 in Lancaster, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles Ronald and Mary Juanita (Stites) Phillips. Jeanie was born and raised in Lancaster, Indiana until attending college. She was a graduate of Dupont High School, Class of 1959 and graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky in 1965 with a Bachelors Degree and obtained her Masters Degree in Education over the next few years. Jeanie was a Health and Physical Education Teacher for Scott County School District # 2 in Scottsburg, Indiana for over 30 years. She was an assistant basketball coach for girls basketball and was head coach for girls softball team. She was a lifetime member of Lancaster Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. She was a sponsor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a certified CPR instructor. Survivors include a sister, Joan Stoner of Hanover, Indiana; a brother, Ron and his wife Jonnie Phillips, of Vevay, Indiana; several nieces and nephews, Stephanie Stoner, Kathryn Bomar, Ginger and Tom Chambers, Troy and Jennifer and Scott and Karen Stoner, Josh and Lyndsey Phillips and Jessica and Corey Lehn. Several great nieces and nephews. Best Friends; Donna Cheatham, Diane Lord, Gene Spinks, Ingrid Royalty and Gary Buchanan.
