John G. Barton, 64, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Scott County, Indiana, the son of the late Robert and Imogene (Bridgewater) Barton. John graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1969, was a former supervisor of the old Scottsburg Plastics, also former employee for the Old American Can Company and a member of Vienna Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda S. (Richey) Barton; two daughters, Kayla and Bridgett Barton of Scottsburg, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Emily (Steven) Scott of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son, Joshua Barton of Scottsburg, Indiana; three stepsons, Ben (Nikki) Short, Tim (Jessica) Short and Nathan (Samantha) Short all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Greg Barton of Scottsburg, Indiana and five grandchildren; Alexsiya, Kenlee, Skyler, Tanner, and Blake. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana with burial in Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Leota, Indiana.

I will always remember my sweet cousin Johnny at Bridgewater farm- his sweet smile and gentle nature. He and Greg and my brothers – Jeff and Scott would chase the chickens and take turns cranking the handle on the homemade ice cream bucket. Hope you and Scotty are up in heaven chasing lightening bugs and fishing for crappie and bluegills. Always in out hearts. Your Texas cousins.
